My friend who is also freegan told me a few weeks ago that it is possible to find shoes in dumpster which belongs to big sports market. I decided to check it out because... why not?! Dumpsters were open, and full of used shoes which were complained. Majority of these were football shoes, which I'm not interested in. Everything was clean and didn't stink. After a while I found something for myself, which generally isn't easy because of my big feet.
Of course all shoes are cut by shop's employees to prevent using it by guys like me, well, I don't care... I used strong thread and needle and I tried to make stitch as invisible as it was possible. I fixed also the ripped part which probably was reason of complaint. After an hour I was done. It doesn't look bad, and what is most important for me, shoes are really comfortable. And I love this lining!
I belive cutting and binning this kind of shoes isn't fair. There are so many people who need ANY shoes. Is it impossible to provide that kind of shoes to the poorest? I think this kind of shoes could be big help for people which are must use shoes like this:
